When you walk with Jesus, expect resistance but never doubt His Word
The Christian Professional Journal is here to offer faith-based insights and encouragement to help you navigate work and life with purpose. Together, we’ll explore how to keep Faith First, Excellence Always, as we grow and walk boldly in God’s calling.
“Make it as secure as you know how.” Matthew 27:65
On the day after the crucifixion, Holy Saturday, you might expect silence and grief to be the final word. But behind closed doors, another story was unfolding.
The religious leaders who had relentlessly opposed Jesus, were still restless. They had succeeded in having Him crucified. They had watched Him breathe His last. And yet, they couldn’t escape His words.
“Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise.’” Matthew 27:63
The very people who refused to believe in Jesus still remembered what He said. And even in their rejection, they couldn’t deny that His words carried weight. So rather than dismiss them altogether, they feared what would happen if the people believed He had risen even if they thought it would be a lie.
So, they accused the disciples of what they might do next:
“Lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’” Matthew 27:64
This is the spirit of unbelief: not just rejecting the truth, but projecting deception onto the faithful.
The religious leaders were afraid of a Jesus that people might follow.
They feared what resurrection would validate:
That everything He said was true.
That the kingdom of God had truly come.
That their power was passing away.
And so, they did what unbelief always does: they tried to contain the truth.
They posted a guard.
They sealed the tomb.
They took every precaution, not out of faith, but out of fear.
“You have a guard. Go your way. Make it as secure as you know how.” Matthew 27:65
But what they didn’t understand is this:
You can’t seal what God has spoken.
You can’t silence a promise by rolling a stone over it.
You can’t stop the light of truth with human authority.
And if you’re a disciple of Jesus today, this passage reminds you:
People may question your integrity and your faith.
You may be misunderstood, criticized, even slandered.
But stay faithful.
Because the same people who fear the truth will often try to silence those who carry it.
Jesus wasn’t surprised by their schemes. He wasn’t shaken by their suspicion and neither should we be.
Because what He said came true.
The tomb was guarded.
The stone was sealed.
And on the third day, He rose just as He said He would.
That’s the heartbeat behind Sin the Great Joker. It was born out of a long season of testing and spiritual resistance.
I was misunderstood. Questioned. Even persecuted.
It was, without question, the most difficult season of my life.
But I couldn’t ignore the calling to write about the truth of Jesus.

Because resurrection power cannot be sealed, and His Word will always prove true.
With faith in what He said,
