A Call to Faithful Labor

The Christian Professional Journal is here to offer faith-based insights and encouragement to help you navigate work and life with purpose. Together, we’ll explore how to keep Faith First, Excellence Always, as we grow and walk boldly in God’s calling.

Can you believe we’re almost halfway through the year?

June is nearly here, and with it comes a gentle, Spirit-led call to reflect: How are we tracking? What have we sown? And what are we still believing God to bring forth in due season?

One morning recently, the Lord woke me at 3am, with a holy reminder: Keep going. Keep building. Keep sowing. Even when you're weary. The seed is still alive under the soil.

I opened my Bible, and the Lord led me to Proverbs 6:6–8.

"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest."

The ant doesn’t wait to be told. It works diligently, consistently, and with foresight. It doesn’t look for shortcuts or make excuses. It understands the law of sowing and reaping. And it does what must be done today to prepare for what’s ahead.

We may be used to comfort or even expect instant results. But the life of faith is different. It requires trust, endurance, and obedience even when progress feels slow.

It calls for sowing good seed in prayer, in diligence, in truth, in generosity, in the Word.

Galatians 6:9 reminds us: "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

We are called to work, yes… but not in our own strength. We rest in His promises even as we rise early to labor. We sow faithfully, knowing that God is the Lord of the harvest. And we keep our eyes on Jesus, our model and our strength.

So, as June begins, let this be your reminder:

  • Keep pressing forward in the assignments God has given you.

  • Don’t despise the small beginnings or unseen sacrifices.

  • Stay faithful in the home, in the workplace, and the place of prayer.

What Diligence Looks Like For Professionals and Business Executives

For the professional, diligence is pursuing excellence with integrity. It’s showing up prepared, staying rooted in truth, and leading with a servant heart. It’s resisting the urge to compromise values for performance.

  • If you’re seeking a new position or starting a new project: Begin with prayer. Ask God for clarity and anointing. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”

  • If you’re pursuing a promotion: Let your faithfulness glorify Him. Luke 16:10 reminds us, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”

  • If you’re in a season of waiting: Don’t mistake silence for absence. Continue sowing, continue building. Here’s a verse for encouragement: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

What It Looks Like With Serving the Lord

Sometimes we think serving God must be visible to others to matter. But the ant is not seen, yet it’s wise.

Diligence in the Kingdom is about obedience. Are you showing up for the small assignments? Are you stewarding what God has already placed in your hand?

If you’ve been weary, let this be a reminder: God sees. God rewards. And even your hidden labor matters in His eternal Kingdom. “God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” Hebrews 6:10
